I'm going to New York on Monday! What would you do if you had a day and a half in the city?? (Randy, I'm really expecting you to shine here.)

Cathedral of St. John the Divine, near Columbia. Even though it was under significant renovation the last time I was there, it's HUGE. (110 and Amsterdam).
You can walk or take a subway partway down Central Park to get to the sweet museums. I like the Met (82nd Street/5th Ave) and the Frick (70th Street/5th Ave). But you could spend like a week in the Met.
The big churches just down 5th Avenue from Central Park are unbelievable. St. Patrick's is open during the days; it's worth taking a look inside. And St. Thomas Church (Episcopal) is beautiful in a darker, heavier way.
Then you should see if you can take a look in the NYPL at 44th Street and 5th Avenue. The Rose Reading Room is one of the most beautiful (and even quiet!) places in the city.
I guess I've skewed toward art and churches… but that's what I loved! Any other kind of thing you want to see?
Just a quick heads up to help you coordinate any art viewing. The MET and the Frick are both closed on Monday and open on Tuesday.
The MoMA is open Monday (10:30am-5:30pm) and closed Tuesday.
Thanks Randy, that sounds lovely. Emily, I totally would have tried to go to the MET, thanks.
